About Atomic Tattoo

Atomic Tattoo was founded in 1992 by Larry Edwards when he decided it was time to escape the harsh Wisconsin and Illinois winters. Larry has 35 years experience in the tattoo industry having started his career in 1976. Through the years Larry has owned and operated studios in Wisconsin, Illinois, North Dakota, Texas, and Hawaii. His work was featured on the cover of a national tattoo magazine and highlighted in a line of stationary note cards. Many of Austin's talented artists can claim Atomic Tattoo as a previous address and Larry as a mentor. While Larry still tattoos on an appointment-only basis, Atomic Tattoo continues to operate as a family-run business and is spear-headed daily by Larry's oldest son, Justin Timming Edwards.

All locations of Atomic Tattoo are licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services for both tattooing and body piercing. We take pride in being a clean, well-lit, and friendly studio with an impeccable record on file with the Health Department. All tattooing and piercing is performed by independently contracted professional artists.

A Little Info About Each Location

Our original Austin location on Burnet Road, shadowed by the "Skullopus" sign started as a single room tattoo studio. Over the years it has expanded to include eight private booths for tattooing.

Atomic Cherry Boutique, located at the Burnet Road location, offers a large assortment of handbags, jewelry, sunglasses and other accessories for cool chicks. Piercing at the Burnet Road location is located in the boutique side of the shop.

The second Atomic Tattoo location began in 1997 on the Drag and then moved a block away on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. The MLK location features four private booths for tattooing and piercing. This location is topped off by an American Eagle Atomic Tattoo sign and has taken on it's own unique personality with more of a "gallery-feel" to it than a traditional street shop.

Atomic's Pflugerville location is situated directly on IH35 just North of Grand Avenue Parkway in the Bella Norte Complex. This location features six private booths for tattooing and piercing.

Atomic 183 is located on Research Boulevard (Hwy 183) and currently has four artists to meet all your tattoo needs. Our newest location at IH-35 and Highway 290 is now open for business and features four artists as well as shop owner, Larry Edwards. This location is on the southeast corner of the IH-35 and Hwy 290 intersection.

While Atomic probably has the most extensive collection of flash (that's the pictures & designs on the wall) in Austin, if you're looking for something unique talk to an artist about a custom piece of art. All artists are experienced with a varied portfolio of styles and types of tattooing.
